![]() There are several things to like about this picture. From a personal point of view, this was my father's father leaving after a visit. That was the house I lived in most of childhood, located in Waynesboro Virginia...a small industrial town in the Shenandoah Valley. In the driveway, not well seen, was our family car, a 1957 Chevy, one of the true classic cars from the fifties. I never had the privilege of driving it. I recall that it suffered from automatic transmission issues most of the time we owned it. But, hey, a '57 Chevy! My grandfather is piloting the main competitor of the time, a 1957 Ford Fairlane. This was the luxury Ford of the year. Power steering, power brakes, automatic windows, and a huge Thunderbird V-8 engine that sounded deep and throaty, and many more features. A few years later, after my Grandfather died, the Fairlane (which ha had painted white for some reason I do not recall), passed into my hands as my first car.
