Susquehanna River above Harrisburg

I returned yesterday from my one week excursion to my home town in western Virginia. I brought back a week's worth of photographs spanning from the Delaware Water Gap area, through the coal country of eastern Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, Harper's Ferry, the Shenandoah Valley, and on to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The valley and mountains define my youthful life and I spent several days re-exploring places from my childhood. The weather was consistently hot and hazy for the entire trip. This benefited many pictures, but not all.

Today's picture is of a stretch of the Susquehanna River as seen from a state park a few miles north of Harrisburg. It was fairly early on a Sunday morning. The water level in the river was low and the stillness of the air allowed this near perfect reflection of the bridge and mountain in the river.

I spent two days in Harrisburg visiting an old friend (graduate school colleague and best man at my wedding in 1982). He showed me around a good bit and I have several interesting photos from that stay.

Pic of the Day:
I really could not resist this photo. Somehow, I just know it is taken out of context but it is truly funny (at least to my sense of humor). From one of my regular web stops, THAT...was my foot
