![]() I have been very bad at getting out for photography. Last night when I left work, I sat in my car for about five minutes just trying to think of where I could go. Someplace different. Someplace where I might be able to experiment with my underwater Olympus P&S. Someplace with SOMETHING that inspired me! Alas, in the end I drove to a local BBQ place and had a pulled pork sandwich. Didn't even THINK to take a picture of THAT!! So this morning, with Hurricane Bill beginning to effect our weather by driving tropical mugginess over the area, I sat with my morning coffee and contemplated what I would do to correct this problem. It is in no small way a direct impact of my workload. My job has always run in waves of frantic activity, preparing proposals to meet a variety of deadlines. But The next several weeks are shaping up to be even more demanding than usual. Between now and the end of September, my group will be producing about 10 proposals, negotiating advanced R&D contracts one three current projects, finalizing multi-year projects and transitioning them from R&D into products...it is a huge load for four people. But I know that it is critical for me to make time to shoot. For that is my major way of entering a state of calmness, of letting the stress of work slip away for at least a few hours. As I mentioned yesterday, I am signed up for an outdoors figure study workshop tomorrow but I had a call last night suggesting that due to weather forecast it may be postponed. Too bad, because I am looking forward to the change of pace ... have never done any figure study work. | |
