![]() As everyone in the Northeast will tell you, this has been a remarkably cool and wet summer. I have only had to turn my fans on a few times so far, though my office (which still does not have AC) can get sweltering hot by end of day. Several planned photographic outings have been canceled due to storms. This shot was taken last week during a photowalk in Troy. We managed to schedule a time that fell right after a fairly large storm passed through, so the trees were still dripping wet. All the rain has turned my mind to thoughts of a waterproof, rugged point and shoot camera. My trusty Fuji F20, which I loved dearly, has been put into permanent retirement due to a filthy sensor. Estimated cost of about $75-100 to clean it just doesn't seem worth the money to me. So I have been contemplating some of the options...there was a nice review on dpreview recently but the top cameras (a Canon and a Panasonic) were a touch too pricey for my interest. I still have my eye on the Olympus Touch 6000 (not the 8000 which has not had good reviews), which I think can be found for a reasonable price. I think the idea of having a camera that I could use in any weather without thoughts to the impact of the rain/snow/ice would be fun. And to be able to take it into the water would be nice as well. | |
