 I was considering not posting tonight. I am really exhausted and just didn't want to think about photography or anything else. But I was putting a shot up on Scanning My Life and realized that June 9 is an important day that simply sneaked up on me. Four years ago, working with a Fuji FinePix 3100 I went to My-Expressions and set up a little photoblog and set a personal goal to take and post a picture every day for a year. I used the goal to discipline myself to go out and shoot all the time. And I did it. Day after day. I actually managed to post more than 365 pictures that first year. The next year, the habit had set in and although I had no intention of posting every day, I think I came real close. Year three was a bit less regular, but still strong. This past year has been the hardest. I am not getting out as much. I am not feeling the inspiration I once felt. I am bord with the same old subject matter. I need a real creative jolt...and soon! So, raise a glass with me on Tuesday, June 9. Forgingahead has made it to FOUR!! Today's post is a flash from the past. Actually posted originally on February 5, 2006; this was the most commented on picture during the entire four years. It is a gate located on State St. in the Center Square neighborhood of Albany. And I will tell you that this picture makes what is really a pretty mundane gate look pretty spectacular. | |
