![]() I spent some time today looking at some of my earlier posts. I sure was a lot more chatty that I have been for the past year or so. Not exactly sure why that is. Work probably. Anyhow, this is another look at one of the old Erie Canal locks in Cohoes, same one where I shot the stonework a couple of days ago. I've not researched all the different generations of locks in the city, but know there were several. The technology for locks advanced a lot since the earliest ones associated with Clinton's Ditch in the 1830's when I believe it took 15 or 20 locks to get around the Cohoes Falls. Even today, with the advanced locks used on the modern barge canal there is a flight of five locks, though now located in Waterford on the opposite side of the Mohawk River from Cohoes. | |
