![]() I shot this a few weeks ago while Spring was just beginning to spring upon us. It is a morning shot of an interesting part of Troy, Washington Park. Unlike most 'parks' this is a privately owned park that is paid for by property owners around the square. All the gates accessing the inside of the park are locked up tight, and I suppose only owners have the keys. Historically the Washington Park Association goes back a a ways, into the nineteenth century. Most of the homes around the park are large and were once owned and lived in by the rich merchants and bankers of Troy. Doesn't seem quite that way anymore. A lot of the homes have been chopped up into apartments, others seem to languish in various states of disrepair. One of the adjoining roads, cobblestone, is so uneven you nearly need an SUV to traverse it. The park itself looks nice enough, but it too on close examination has probably seen better days. | |
