Desolate, Dry Place
EXIF: KONICA MINOLTA MAXXUM 5D | 1/1000 sec | f 5.6 | 20.0mm (35mm equivalent: 30.0mm) | ISO 100

I have to tell you all...I am running totally dry here (as the image today illustrates!). I have taken a few photos recently but they were all work-related. In fact, just about everything I do now is somehow work related. I guess it is ok, because with the holiday season upon us, the traffic to forgingahead has reached an all time low point, so not many are noticing my reliance on my older material.

This photo is again from the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge. If I understand the geography correctly, this landform was once an active part of the delta for the Rio Grande, with water flowing through it, perhaps in the not too distant past (geologically speaking anyway). From signs nearby, I gather that even now, given the right conditions there may be a few inches to a foot or so of water in these areas. I was there in the fall, when I suppose the area was nearing its maximum aridity, and perhaps in the Spring the conditions are different.
