Rail at Williams Press Building

For the last few weeks I have gone a little crazy buying new and old photographic gadgets. In addition to the two Yashica Electros (one GN and one GS), I have added a new Minolta 50mm f 1.7 prime and a Tamron 28-300 to my KM 5D kit, finally got myself a backup battery, got a real tripod (far too heavy for taking on long hikes), and a few other little gadgets. I had a bid in on a third Electro 35 (a GSN this time) which I had fully expected to be outbid on but managed to win that as well for about $15. Then today I found an old Pentax K-1000 with a 28mm and 80-200 lens, a 2x teleconverter, a Cokin filter holder, a flash unit, 4 rolls of Fuji Superia 400 film, a cable release, and a carry bag for it all -- all for about $20. So I could not pass it up.

So I loaded a roll of the film in the camera and went out to shoot a roll to see how it worked. It was a bright sunny day and the meter kept telling me I was overexposed at 1/1000 sec at f22, which really did not seem right to me at all. In the end, after some experimenting and getting the film processed ata one-hour place I came to the conclusion that the meter is off by maybe one or two stops. Could need a new battery I suppose, though the seller told me it was fairly new.

Anyway, today's shot is from that camera. I stopped at an abandoned printing company I had passed many times and thought would make an interesting study. I shot both color film with the Pentax and some B&W's with the Yashica. I just finished processing the B&W.

And on top of this film jag I have been on recently, I still have lots of shots from the Shaker Village and the Thursday evening concert.
