During the NAP Meeting, one group of 15 took off for an old abandoned candy factory for some fun shooting the decay of an old building. We were led on this tour by two Chicago bloggers, Michael Chu and Thomas Marlow. Mike took this group shot after we had spent about two hours wandering the huge factory.

Today I will begin to post some of the many pictures I have from this place. Funny thing, it turned out the factory was not abandoned all that long ago...maybe only 6 or 7 years ago. Things go fast though. Nary a window left in the place. Paint peeling everywhere. Scavengers hunting for anything of value have stripped many parts of the building near to the bone. Some rooms were coated in a thick sticky syrup of sugar and rain water, a syrup so viscous that it could pull your shoes off if you mistook it for a shallow puddle of water.

This particular room reminded me of some of the more intact Egyptian temples I visited years ago, particularly the one in Edfu, which I recall as being terribly dark inside and filled with huge columns.
