Whipping a Line
EXIF: KONICA MINOLTA MAXXUM 5D | 1/320 sec | f 5.6 | 60.0mm (35mm equivalent: 90.0mm) | ISO 200

There was a re-enactment group at the Tulip Festival representing a naval detachment during the War of 1812. They had a small canon gun boat on display and the coxswain was busy doing the ship's work repairing lines. He gave us a good historical description of life as a naval sailor in the early navy. All the while he was talking his hands were busy 'whipping' a line to strengthen it and help to keep it from fraying.

I am off to the south on Thursday, leaving this site on autopilot. I will try to get online to check my mail and visit a few blogs whenever I get the chance.
