USS Slater
EXIF: KONICA MINOLTA MAXXUM 5D | 1/400 sec | f 5.6 | 120.0mm (35mm equivalent: 180.0mm) | ISO 100

Looking south down the Hudson River. The Port of Rensselaer on the far shore. The ship is the USS Slater, a Destroyer Escort now serving as a tourist attraction. In the summer it is moored to a quay in Albany but winters in the Port of Rensselaer. Last in the news a few months ago because there was a fire of some magnitude deep inside the ship. I am not sure it wll be ready to return to tourist service this year or not.

WOW Award

I have long enjoyed following the photographic explorations of Shane from Shane J. Montgomery and his girlfriend, Amanda, at Amanda Leigh. They seem to enjoy poking into strange places together and finding the odd and the beautiful. But today, with this shot, birds and sunset Shane stopped me in my tracks. Great colors, great composition, fantastic detail. Not your average sunset!
