![]() As the long winter begins, I pulled this shot from my archives. Setting of the sun over a portion of the Hudson River. A couple of words about the WOW Award. It is not my intention to make an award everyday. Some days (like today) I may even recognize more than one. But on the whole, please don't expect to see this each and every time you open my site. I look at between 100 and 200 photoblogs every day. I like to wander the back roads of photoblogland. Sure I like to look at Daily Dose, and A Walk Through Durham Township, and Chromasia, etc. but we all come to expect to be WOWed by those sites...it almost becomes humdrum (no offense to the sites at all). What I really love is to be wandering from site to site and all of a sudden, BAM!!, I am hit by it. My breath leaves my body and the word 'WOW' is all I can get out. That is the experience I crave. Those are the pictures I award. That said. I am in fact giving two WOW Awards tonight! I have been watching My Camera Eye for many months. Scott and I exchange lots of private email about photography and other things. I have come to respect Scott for his great motion blur shots. In fact, it was a shot in a Washintgton DC Metro station that first grabbed my attention. This morning, I was stopped by his picture 'The $100 Dollar Picture.' which builds on his skills at motion blur photography and adds a whole new approach to the traditional car light trail pictures. ![]() The second award is retroactive. On December 14, Ana at Shutterfly by Ana posted 'Passing Afternoon.' In my comment on that picture I told her she had won my 'WOW Award' for the day. Problem was... I had no award at the time. But it was the inspriation for starting the award, so I felt it only proper to give her the recognition she deserved for WOWing me! ![]() | |
