This crane has been a nearly permanent fixture along State Street next to the Capitol Building as the process of replacing the roof has gone on for more than a year now. This is NOT your run of the mill roof, but rather a complex arangement of specially handcrafted ceramic tiles, many of which are quite decorative, copper flashing, and a roofline that makes the House of Seven Gables look like a flat-topped building. So, unless you like pictures of cranes and scaffolding, you will have to wait to get clear shots of this building.

It is nearly 11pm and I have just now walked in the door from a 13 hour day. And will be returning tomorrow for another -- though the deadline for the proposal is 8pm tomorrow night so I will get home at an earlier hour.

On a happy note, I came home to find my new toy in my mailbox. I bought an older Sigma 70-210 macro zoom telephoto off Ebay for $35! I know... you get what you pay for, but I simply do not have the kind of cash you need for high quality glass. I was worried because I had heard some of the older Sigma Minolta mounts do not work correctly with the 5D without some sort of firmware upgrade. Well, I slapped in on the camera and it came to life. Focuses ok, but not in my darkened apartment. Not sure when I will give a workout. Maybe shoot something with it this weekend. Get ready!!

Pic of the Day!

I bring back this old feature to spotlight a great picture of a snowfall over at Scottsblog. Check it out!
